As someone who likes wine, but often does not know why a particular bottle tastes good I was curious to see if a decanter would work. Would I notice a difference in the flavor of my wines?
It turns out that yes, I absolutely do. I've had a few different reds in this decanter, and they all are improved by using it and giving them a little time to sit and breathe. $10 table wine? $60 - $100 bottles? Yes, they all get better with a decant and time to breathe.
Don't ask me why, but I can taste the difference and that's what matters most.
The design of the decanter is really nice. I've already picked up two more to give as gifts. I'm pretty easy to please and this really has done great for me.
Have used this to decant several bottles of 20 and 30 years old wine including one that the cork disintegrated. The dual filter system kept the cork bits out of the wine as well as any sediment. But the real value is the rapid aeration of the wine as it flows into the decanter. You can open and drink the wine within minutes versus letting it sit and breathe.
I absolutely love this! It is beautiful and easy to clean. I would buy this for others as a gift. Have given it to my wife as a gift and she like the way it enhances the flavor of the wine. I am not too fond of wine but when using this decanter it is good!
